Yes, as many times as you like. Each test draws a different set of items from a large adaptive databank, so no two sessions are the same. Taking PULSE regularly is the best way to track your progress over time.

Some organizations may accept your Transparent PULSE Certificate directly. PULSE Certificate scores are reliable and can be easily confirmed (see question 10). When the stakes are high (for instance, professional certification, immigration, or university admission at institutions that require a specific test) you may still need a longer, four-skill legacy exam. But PULSE tells you when you’re ready to take one, so you don’t spend the money and effort until you can expect to do well.

PULSE uses “Binary Choice” test items, an innovative format that covers vocabulary, grammar, and reading comprehension in a fraction of the time traditional tests require. A proprietary adaptive algorithm selects precisely targeted items from a proven databank of tens of thousands of questions. Each session quickly finds your approximate level, then continuously refines its estimate with increasingly targeted items that require only a few seconds each to answer.

• Item Compromise: Each test-taker sees only a tiny fraction of tens of thousands of items, making memorization or sharing of questions essentially pointless.
• Identity Verification: Legacy tests invest heavily in identity verification (proctored rooms, ID checks, biometrics, etc.), and determined fraudsters still beat them. PULSE takes a different approach: because the test is free, instant, and can be taken anywhere, you can simply ask someone to take it in front of you. A five-minute supervised session is the most practical identity verification available. If someone claims a C1 level, you’ll know in five minutes whether that fits.
